i read that 10.2.4 was released, and i saw that it has support for mLAN devices now, but does anyone know if this includes the presonus FIREstation? i own one, and i was told that the osx drivers for it were to be included in the next update of the os, but i cant seem to get it to work when i hook it up in osx. does anyone have an answer to this? thanks.

Try ths link, I own one and have got most controllable issues resolved. Sonikmatter You have to select the FIREstation in the Audio/Midi setup in your Utilities folder. Logout, restart, log back in and you should be fine.

Mellotron, if you had made a search on firestation you would have found threads on it. And the Firestation IS in Mlan.

Another thread NOT in the right forum.

WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!

Firestation and 10.2.4

Just read on http://www.macintouch.com/

Readers warn of a critical Mac OS X 10.2.4 bug, which can render the Presonus Firestation unusable and could potentially affect other FireWire devices:

[Robert Boehm] I just spoke with tech support at Presonus about the compatability of their Firestation IEEE 1394 audio interface with Mac OS 10.2.4
  Danger: Do Not Use the Presonus Firestation with OS 10.2.4 ! It will work correctly at first, then... BIG TROUBLE.
  The MLan recognition code was written incorrectly by Apple and can cause a reset of a chip on the Presonus motherboard that can not be undone without physically removing the chip from the board!
  Presonus is working with Apple to fix this problem. Contact Presonus for more details and updates.
[Will Cheshier] Being the owner of a Presonus Firestation, i was very happy to see Apple list mLan enhancements to the OS. I have, to this point, been unable to use the unit as an Audio I/O for my PowerBook (I'm running Cubase SX and Reason 2) because of a lack of mLan support. I emailed Presonus to see if OSX drivers for the Firestation had been made available. Here's their response:

WE ARE SORRY TO ANNOUNCE THAT THE NEW OS10.2.4 VERSION HAS AN INTEGRAL FLAW.
At first from what we could tell everything seemed to be fine save for a couple minor quirks. Upon further examination we have found that within OS10, during normal operation it will change the isochronous channel to 17. This is a problem because of programming, OS10 is only written to look for isochronous channel 16. It is additionally a problem because a chip within the Firestation unit that holds this channel information is non-volatile. That is, once changed it cannot be rewritten. Once it is changed it effectively becomes useless under OS10. This situation is also incurred when attempting to utilize multiple Firestations. It will automatically assign the iso channels consecutively for each unit.
::NOTE::
The isochronous channel is important because it is the channel the computer assigns to the firewire cable for communication. Normally this automatically assigned. Which integrally seems to be the problem. So sadly, it looks like we are all going to have to remain patient with OS9.
I don't know how this affects other firewire based audio interfaces and OSX.
