I was going to buy this card a couple of weeks ago and decided against it when I read somewhere else that the uad card, logic and macs did not make a happy couple. My question is.....Does anyone here use this configuration? And does it work well for you?

Hi Formatj, The UAD-1 card totally rocks with Logic 5x. There are issues when using the UAD-1 plug-ins sometimes with Logic's virtual instruments, but there are no issues using them on audio tracks. There is currently a little latency on the Realverb Pro (and other UAD-1 plugs) when using them on a bus for multiple sending from any audio track/instrument. I'm sure the problem will be addressed at some point soon, though it may be due to the fact that the signal has to travel to the UAD-1 card through the PCI bus and then back into your audio interface... I am getting some outrageously wonderful sounding fat "analog" mixes out of this card. Totally recommended 110%. Those who say there are problems with this card on a mac running Logic 5x probably haven't optimised/configured their system correctly. Use as few extensions as is possible. The system folder must run light, and make sure you have at least half a gig of ram, and that Logic has plenty of memory (at least 350mb) assigned to it. I have a gig of ram, with around 800mb assigned to Logic 5.5.0 (I have a large sample library, the extra memory is necessary for some larger songs using many EXS24 sampler instanciations.) Believe me, for professional industry level production, this is not excessive when depending on Logic to run almost your entire song without many external samplers/synths. Total recall is the order of the day! Contrary to the "article" that you read, Logic and the UAD-1 make an extremely happy couple. Maybe the reviewer needs to get someone like Paul Wiffen to help him set up his system properly, though I'm sure Paul is way too busy for such manual labour these days...! Good luck...

First - As a logic user , a good place to visit it www.sonikmatter.com ; a community dedicated to Logic full with Logic gurus and masters...
As for your question, eventhough there are loads of happy users who have that setup, I would recommend waiting with getting the UAD for the mac - if you want to move to OSX anytime soon. It took a looooong time to UAD to fix/release a proper version of the card for the mac, how long will it take them to release one for OSX?? I'm using the TC powercore for great result, and now with the support of sony - those plugs are currently the best plugs avialable..
Just my 0,002$
BTW - I've heard UAD are releasing a new card with i/o , might want to wait to that one - since then there will be no more latency on busses when using a dsp card.. and it is not soùething that can be easily fixed (latency on busses)
