I am a sax player and I have just received some Midi software (Emagic Logic) for my older iMac. Is there a way to capture my sax and turn it into notes that I can edit and print as a score. I'm starting to play keyboards but it would be so much easier to use my sax. Thanks! MyAltoSax.com

If you record an audio file in Logic and then open that audio file with the sample editor you can choose "Audio to Score" from the "Factory" menu. It's not perfect and works better with some types of sounds than others. I haven't tried it with Sax. There is also a program called "melodyne" by celemony that works very well. http://www.celemony.com/Also have a look at PI2M (Pitch to MIDI) at http://www.macmusic.org/~polyfractus/home.htmIt is a $49.95 shareware plugin.

I have a similar question - I'm a violinist, and would like to do real-time pitch-to-midi transcription. I downloaded the Finale demo, but can't seem to get the Hyperscribe feature to work. I play at the mic while the timer's running, but nothing happens. Any advice?
thanks
