The title of this article is misleading.The new Mac Pro has been announced, but will not be available until December 2013.

And they can be used set on their side, provided you follow these Apple guidelines: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6099?viewlocale=en_USFor the CPU, trials have shown it works with other compatible Xeons. Good for later upgrade AT LAST. (Given Apple habits, it won't last and solder will show its ugly head at one point or Apple moved in a BIG way.)
