Hmm. . .
I could be wrong here, but I think ProTools hardware is proprietary, meaning you can only use ProTools software with the mBox. Therefore, I don't think you'll have any luck getting GarageBand to work with it. I use a Firebox from PreSonus for my interface. You should check it out. |

I believe you can use the MBox with other DAW's. I know people that use it with Sonar.
With GarageBand open, go to GarageBand |"Preferences" and the under the "audio/midi" tab, make sure you have selected the MBox for audio input and output |

I've successfully used my MBox 2 Pro with Logic, GarageBand and Digital Performer. I may be wrong, but I think it's easier to make Digi hardware work with other software than it is to use ProTools with most non-Digi hardware (I suspect M-Audio hardware may be an exception, although it may depend on the version of ProTools you have.)

Make sure you have the latest Digidesign Core Audio driver from:
http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?langid...mp;itemid=33009 and you should have no problem using your interface with any Core Audio compliant software. You may find that you are unable to run more than one piece of audio software at the same time (eg GarageBand and iTunes), but this is normal behaviour for Digidesign gear. The rule is that you can use Digi hardware with any software, but ProTools will ONLY work with a Digidesign or appropriate M-Audio interface. -------------------- www.myspace.com/commercialmusicstudios

ProTools will ONLY work with a proprietary Digidesign or "M-Powered" (M-Audio) interface. |
