I have just purchased a 2408 mk ii to accompany my O2R desk which is equipped with 2 tdif cards, i have the cards assigned to bank a and bank b on the motu and when running logic and reason am having no problems.I am synchronising using word clock and having the O2 as the master, unfortunately my studio partner is using cubase. Cubase is not recognising the multiple outputs except for on the master fader. Also, after about 10 seconds of sending audio out of the tdif outputs just goes silent, Any ideas much appreciated.

Spec:- Mac g4 733 Quicksilver
Yamaha O2R
2 Tdif Cards
TC Unity card
Motu 2408 MkII

It sounds very much like Cubase behaviour, unfortunately. Logic never behaves in this manner. I have a friend who tried to pitch up an acoustic guitar file by a semitone on Cubase 5, and upon playback it was warbling anywhere and everywhere in between the range of the original note and the target...ie: rising & falling in pitch across the whole semitone range...needless to say, he lost that particular client who played the guitar track! Oops! He is now converting to Logic 5x.

Is your studio partner using a version of Cubase prior to the release of SX? Who knows, maybe the output assignment problems have been addressed in SX, but considering how long Cubase has been around, one would like to imagine that they've ironed out all of these technical issues by now. It would appear that the program is still a little wishy washy in some fundamental areas.

Logic is my weapon of creation. It's a very stable platform too. Maybe your studio partner should get into Logic? (Logic imports Cubase songs directly...except the environment of the imported song will have to be sorted out, of course..)

Hope this helps somewhat.
