Hi there!

I have a big problem with Firewire 410! The MOST important thing about it-->audio recordind/mic preamps, is "falling down"! WHY????......couse:
I expected that this device to record very clear audio tracks, so I to be able to gain them software WITHOUT the big noise gathered with it....
So, I've got a Studio Projects B1 microphone that works perfectely with Fast Track Pro preamps(even when GAIN KNOBS are max pozition), BUT with Firewire 410 it's almost exactely vice versa:
--When I recording it or even I talk to the mic with gain, THIS GAIN has a tinkle sound signal gathered with my speaking/recording....this stuff behave like would be the device signal-to- noise "quality";
--I made all tests I c
ould (Cubase SX2 audio, Sony Sound Forge, Cakewalk, even real time talking), but all the same---looks like "its higher quality signal sound"!!! I tested with another mic and same issue;
-- my question is>>>is this a real issue of it(and what is it - remember that my device is installed and works perfectely); >>>OR this is ALL THIS BOX CAN DO--I mean FW410 has a cheap audio recordind signal and sound..........
SO, PLEASE elucidate for me THIS problem/mistery....couse I'm tired of it, it brought me down...IT really worth the effort, or I should get out of it (even it's OK and seem to work perfectely on the other hand)???
thanks anticipated,Boan

Anduuu, we get what you're saying, but please ease up on the "Red".

I think you got it when you mention the word "Cheap". I don't wish to offend any members who are using FireWire 410 and are getting good "Entry Level" Quality.

Hey, if you can do it cool, but you usually get what you pay for. Most members have a secret yearning to make a lot of money with even just one of our songs. It can happen any number of was, too many to imagine actually, but it's usually, Good "Connection" in the Music Business. Luck. Lastly, but most importantly is. The music. Hopefully the music will be good, but more the the Plug-Ins, blah-blah. The musicianship has to be at least "Good" but the "Sonics" reaching the Listener must be perfect.

It pays to wait and save your money and buy Professional... So what if you have to wait to get your system running properly. Instead of spending 200 whatever countries money, it's better to spend double that or more to get a Professional Interface. The worst thing that can happen is your sound is bad. It can happen with a Professional one as well, but, it will be rare if ever and it can be repaired. Electronic Gear out of China, might not even be around in six months.

Most important is knowing you have good gear. You are proud of it and not making excuses and apologizing for the cracks, pops, drop-off's, drop-out's, that burning smell, etc.

Buy good, you buy once, unless you upgrade Big Money Gear, which I would venture to say not many would have such gear, I hope I'm wrong as I hope we have some Professional Studio Members, but I think this site is for Home Studio mostly? If I'm wrong I apologize.

Most Professional Studios are making money not hanging out in Forums. If they are they will soon be closed.

In closing Grasshopper you have amazed me by grabbing the peeble from my hand and have learned the important lesson. "Don't buy crap"

Note: Mac daddy, tweedmusic, piss off with this useless and raved reply- it doesn;t use to nobody. I POSTED HERE to be helped, not to listen that raved shat. And I have this problem with it since 4 month, in order that I know this FW 410 like my hand/only that I can't open its case couse I lose guarantee. It/drivers/device works very well at me(I am more advanced), so I've passed this "software issues" much time ago and I verified the cables and imputs too!!!- I'm talking about HARWARE(I KNOW IT"S something about PREAPS)!
Don;t tell me I tell raves! angry.gif

Please anyone, only WHO REALLY KNOW this DEVICE, help me with this hardware problem!>> the topic continue!!

I bought this device from Av Audio Sys Romania(which is only a Importer, not a M-Audio Representantion). But I think this doesn't matter a bit, couse they aren't wanting to RECOGNISE my problem AS A REAL ONE(the AV Audio sys director mr.Andrew simply wants only to keep my money into his pocket, and nothing else more)! THEY suggest me THAT MY DEVICE works perfectly(what a lie, isn't it) and they refuse to repair, compare or change my Firewire 410 with another one.
PLEASE tell me, WHAT can I do in this situation---couse I focused on the help of the other countries Representantion, but in this case is useless on working with that kind of man like AV Audio sys ones).
thanks anticipated, Boan.

Anduuu,

No need to get pissed off at me, I only mentioned what I have seen mentioned in this forum about the FW 410. It has had a lot of problems.

I said, I thought you had it right when you mentioned price. Perhaps you can return the FW 410 and use as a trade in, or you can sell it to some unknowing newbee, there are heaps of people who will give you more than the FW 410 is worth.

But, so is the Karma thang, like the nasty remark you left. Grasshopper, "Pleeeeze". Like your gear so are your remarks.

When peeps post replys here they are genuinely trying to help, impart information or comments. It might not be the reply you want but that doesn't mean you can insult them. Also it doesn't encourage others to further help.

Ok. I had have this same device for more than a year now and just went to M-Audio site in order to download the proper driver (when I upgraded to 0S 10.4.10).
I haven´t had those problems so I guess you should go directly to the retailer or to M-Audio and ask for a refund.....!!
I was looking for a fine interface, but Apogee´s Ensemble was not available at that time, so I bought the 410, and to my surprise, it works fine and do the job I am asking it to do. What can I expect for $299.00 ?
So, come on ,relax and go to the re-seller and tell them what is going on.
We, here in this forum, are not the one to blame for your bad luck or whatever malfunction have your stuff.

No,no! U didn't get, do u?! blink.gif

First, I bought this device with 399.00EU, not only 299$! So, I expecting to have a HQ sound preaps!
And I don't think it;s my bad luck, but it's about "THAT STUFF"retailers who EVEN that they HEAR the NOISE(tested on my Win XPSP2 and Mac too - on Cubase and Ableton, etc), they said "u got alien in your head - the box works perfectely", and in conclusion they refuse at least to COMPARE the device with other(to avoid the true might come up), and NOT AT ALL to repair it!!! That's the REAL problem, their IGNORANCE-hypocrisie!!!

I said again that all I tell is a professional true, not a rave! So, if u could help me with some PRACTICAL suggestions - DO IT, thank u very much!! BUT if u aren;t able to do it, better shut up with that pitiful boldin' remarks.
FOR ALL who really wish to help me, the topic continue once again. biggrin.gif

PS: is a chance that UK M-Audio reprezentation to accept my FW410 or to wish to repair it for me, to help me somehow?Maybe when I'll arrive in London.

Hello Anduu, if you want really good pres, never count on the interface ones, never. They may be "ok", but never "pro". wink.gif

As far as I remember the 410 issues around here have always been about improper driver install or issues in CoreAudio, but your problem seem a different kind, that's why the repair may be a good idea.

And easy way to show the problem is to record it! Make one with the 410 pre, another with another pre you have access to like you mentioned, you'll have something to show then to the guys. wink.gif I'd contact M-audio directly too, if the guys are not a representation, pass over their head! Even if there's issues regularly with M-Audio products, I've never heard a bad word upon their after sales policy, so get to them directly.

If M-audio can't/won't do a thing, let us know, it'll be written somewhere in public for others to read. But I'd be you, I'd look forward for fine preamps in a stand alone form there's aplenty, but it'll cost the price of an interface at least.

About the price, remember this forum is for all the planet to use, your price may not be others's, sadly.

And please, no need to shout or insist, no-one here is deaf (yet) wink.gif People actually read what you write and really try to help, even in their winding way, none works for M-Audio nor is your retailer so keep cool, thank you.

Oh I forgot, never trust a word a reseller say… Save if you really really know him.

I joined this forum/community of Mac Music to learn and communicate in regard to MacMusic.Your aggression feedback to Macdaddy and myself is inappropriate and unwarranted.Deal with your personal issues in the appropriate forum.I empathised with your problem and asked you if you resolved it.I mentioned I had a driver problem with the same Firewire 410, and you vent your internal driver issues, refrag your own HD and involve yourself in this community in the spirit in which it was created. Good luck, be happy and be of benefit to others.Cheers.Tweedmusic
