I need some way of playing MIDI into Logic Express plus recording microphones, guitars etc.
So far the RME Fireface 800 and the MOTU 828mkII look good. Any other options I could look at or criteria I should consider? Ta |

Those two are both very good soundcards. But whats your budget? And how many inputs/outputs will you need? If you are going to be recording a band or drum kit you will either need a mixer aswell, or a soundcard with more mic pres.
I have an Edirol Fa 101, the mic pres are a bit crap but its great for use with a mixer. |

fernbritton,
You can't go wrong with RME or MOTU. Good choices. |

Presonus is great too.
Some 828 mk2 have issues in some limited (but annoying) cases, avoid second hand for these. -------------------- Our Classifeds • Nos petites annonces • Terms Of Service / Conditions d'Utilisation • Forum Rules / Règles des Forums • MacMusic.Org & SETI@Home

fernbriton,
For the best unbiased Information/Reviews concerning Hardware and "most" Software questions, issues, price, etc. is: www.soundonsound.com Every manufacturer presents gear to them for Test/Review. They often help companies develop the product with their Pros and Cons on a product. I don't make a purchase without their advice. Not one regret. |
