Hi there, I just did this, I had Logic Gold 5.5.1 for my MAC, The disk had Gold and Platinum and 6 on it, but the XSkey would only authorise Gold 5.5.1. The MAC was running Panther.
What I had to do, and it all worked really easily, was
1 Backup my working system
2 Buy and install Tiger (latest Logic only runs in Tiger),
3 make sure everything is still working, and you have the latest upgrades 10.4.6 etc.
4 Buy Logic pro 7.2 upgrade from Apple store. (This was £199 UK) The store was showing it as Logic Pro 7.0, so I also bought the 7.2 crossgrade, but actually didn't need it as the upgrade from 5.5.1 was actually to 7.2! Confused? I was...
5 Install the upgrade to 5.5.1 to take you up to 7.2.
6 Have fun and make music, and stop spending all you time spending money and doing techie stuff and not actually making music. (this was my favourite bit of the whole process, I was starting to feel like a system admin not a creative muso!!)
Hopefully you will find this helpful. Cheers Jake.
