I have a shiny new MacIntel MacBook (new user to Mac) but it seems I cant run software such as Cubase. I'd really like to try LogicExpress but as I understand it (again, I'm totally new here), I cant run this demo version that is currently available. But shouldn't this work under Rosetta? I dont want to try it and screw up my system. Thanks.

Because of the need to talk directly to audio and midi hardware, logic is not supported under Rosetta.

Also, audio apps usually need altivec to run and rosetta is especially bad to support altivec as it's PPC only. Rosetta is not supporting fully altivec instructions and it is very slow for it, so apps using altivec have some issues, from slowness to errors.

That's why we need UB versions on the "serious" stuff.

There's no problem about "screwing your system" at all, but you really need UB! Save for things like Office that run without needing such mathematical operands mumbo jumbo. cool.gif On the demo, yes it can't be run on macintels as it's old. It won't screw up your system, but you may buy the book for next to nothing if it doesn't run. sad.gif

But do we know when/if a trial version is available? I hardly ever buy full version software without first trying it out. Thanks.
