Hello guys
I have 20 inch apple monitor which I would like to use( actually switch) between two computers my G5 and my laptop G4.
I think I need some kind of KVM or DVI switch -around 50 $.
There is so many products and I'm kind of confused .
So my question - does anybody knows the exact name of this switch.
Thanks for your time.

Milan

Milan,

You are looking for a KVM (Keyboard-Video-Monitor) switch which will allow you to control two computers with a single mouse/keyboard and share a single monitor.

I have used a few and really like the IOGear line the best for reliability. There are a number of 2 port KVMs available. Check the IOGear Site for a list of those that are available and see which one best fits your needs.

I use the MiniView™ Micro USB PLUS KVM Switch, Model # GCS632U with good results between a G5 tower and my PBG4. A double-tap on the control key switches between the CPUs.

Hope this helps.

peace,
deacon

I've found that Avocent makes some very reliable KVMs that are worth the money. Most of my experience with cheaper KVMs is that they just don't work particularly well. Belkin is especially bad news.

But the few Avocent KVMs I've worked with have been great. Check them out.
