Sorry for this apparently simple question but I've gone through the manual as well as searching the pdf documentation and for the life of me can't find how to record with MIDI!!! Analog works fine but I'm not seeing the MIDI information in Logic Exp. 7 when attempting to record.

Equipment is a Powerbook G4 (1gb ram), OS X 10.9, Digi002 rack, drumKat. external Lacie HD to record to The MIDI cabling (In to Out etc.) seems to be correct but I'm getting nothing.

I create a MIDI track (either with channel 10 or all channels, neither works), select the track and arm/start recording while tapping out random "stuff" on the kat to see if it's registering. Nada, nothing. I'm using the latest DigiCore Audio Manager v6.9 and the PB sees the Digi002. The kat is seen in Audio MIDI setup and tests fine. The Default Input is the Digi002 and the Default Output is the built in audio.

What am I not doing or doing wrong? My next step would actually being able to hear the recorded sound but I'm not even close to that one yet (but if someone can volunteer that information along with letting me know what I'm missing here --besides a brain at this point!) I'd appreciate it.

fwiw I've done recordings before on a Tosh with Cakewalk both MIDI and analog and never had this problem. Got the PB and Logic because I wanted to approach this more seriously but Arrragggggh!

Thanks,

kj

hi ,

sincerely i found your post a bit blurry.do you actually get any midi data in the track? is the Logic midi monitor doing anything?is the channel assign properly done?are you trying to play an external or virtual module?what is the built in audio doing in a midi configuration?
i think you should start from the beginning,so go into Midi Audio Setup ,check that trhe wiring is properly done and working(the real cables too) ,then open Logic ,select a midi track and check that the midi out is set to Port 1(that's how the 002 calls the out port,1 or 2),by default any midi input goes into Logic(if it's on the audio midi configuration).
try with that ,good luck!

I am thinking that Express isn't much different from pro on function but I have never used Express. Maybe you need to open the environment window and create a multi-instrument and assign the Drumkat to the coinciding port 1 and midi channel? Hope I'm not just repeating you...This is how I control all my midi gear Master keyboard thru modules.

Dreadman, gonechan,

I managed to figure it all out. The digi002 was in the midi devices and attached to the drumKat. i removed it and then ran the setup again and finally I'm able to record using the drumKat.

Have to say that it's pretty awesome as to what one can do even with Logic Express.

All the assignments were fine though and thanks for your input.
