I just bought Logic Pro 7 Academic version which was $500 cheaper than the retail, but is there a difference between this and the retail version? I know that my XSKey has Academic written on it, and the barcodes have replaces stickers with the Academic barcode, but is there anything different software wise? Thanks!!!

My understanding is that there is a difference the day you'll want to upgrade to the next Logic Pro version...

That is what I have heard, that you can't update it to the next version of Logic Pro... I am not fully aware of what people meant when they say next version. Do they mean 7.1 to 7.2? Or 7 to 8? I mean, it doesn't bother me too much if I have to buy Logic 8. Retail is $1,000, and an upgrade is $300? So I would essentially save $300 if I kept buying Academic Versions.

Honestly you could probably put in a local community college and you might be able to get away with it... they didn't ask for any I.D. or proof of college. I don't know if they later check that with the schools or what, but I have ordered 5 things and never had to be asked about proof of being a student. *shrug* If you know someone, that goes to Elementary school or College, you could definately have them order it. I found my K-12 schools on there and got the same discount as I would at Ball State.
