Anyone out there using Drumcore (http://www.drumcore.com/) for your drum VI? I would like to hear about your experiences. I've seen a demo by a professional drummer and it looks and sounds decent but I'd be curious about others experiences. I'm especially interested in non-drummers.
Thanks -- Jeff |

Hey, I've used Drumcore on a couple of projects and gotten very satisfying results. I like the natural sounding grooves combined with the loop-based organization. The sample libraries available seem to be mostly in the pop / rock / hip-hop realms, and I would like to see more jazz, polyrhythmic grooves and meters other than 4. But that's an understandable weakness in these early stages of the software, and overall, I'm fine with it. It works fine with Logic (with Rewire or just exporting samples) and in the new version they've improved that interface in ways that make things easier to work with.
Another thing is I haven't been a fan of drum machine-style programming so far, although Ultrabeat in Logic is pretty powerful. Much quicker to find a decent and natural sounding groove in Drumcore. Finally, there's a multi-level randomizer in DC that lets you try out smaller and larger alterations to the sampled groove. Most of these variations don't usually work for me, but some do, and it's a good way to expand the possibilities from this approach. just a coupla cents.... Peace, Daniel |
