hi folks, i have one hell of a problem.
i use logic platinum pro and love it dearly. everything was going great untill the other day. i tried to start up my software and a message reading "the application logic pro has unexpectedly quit. the system and other applications have not been affected." appeared. unfortunatly i do not understand why this is happening. iam in no way a computer tech and cannot resolve this problem. i love using logic and i would say im very good with it, but i cant get my head around this. i recently installed a free native instrument called "future loops beat rompler" which came with a future music (and can i say, what a great magazine it is) onto my system and its never worked properly since i installed it, well i think it was this. now, you would think that this was the problem, and it probably is the problem. for the life of me i have tried to find a function on my mac that allows me to to un-install this peice of software from my comp. but i cant. i can delete some of the files associated with this instrument but before i get the statement "the application logic pro has unexpectedly quit." i get a message- "(future loops) your serial number is not correct. please run the registration tool to enter the correct serial number for future loops.". i do not want to run the registration tool and i have removed all files know to me (i think) associated with this instrument. now, for some reason logic still thinks that the software is still in-stalled on my comp???????? maybe there are some remaining files left some where, but for the life of me i cant find them!!!! is there anyone out there who could tell me how to get rid of the situation iam faced with. as i said before i love my logic platinum pro (its a legitamate version i must state) and i cant live without it. im missing it dearly and may cry if i cannot bring it back to life!!!!! boo hoo!!!!!! oh crap i did cry!!!!
iam using a g4 power mac with dual 1.25 ghz processors, 1024 mb of ram and my operating system is mac osx 10.2.8 .

i dont know if this could be a problem also.........
my main hard drive on my comp is almost full, and when i say almost full i mean extremely almost full!!! i also have an external hard drive made by "carillion" its a fire wire connection from the comp to the drive and it has lots of space left. 108.47 gb to be exact. could the main hard-drive being almost full be the problem??????

or do i have a virus?????? i dont know, as i stated earlier iam in no way a comp tech and i really need to know if i have a virus. are there any free virus scanners out there for me to download???? or will i have to bite the bullet and purchase something like "norton anti-virus"? will this get rid of what i may have?? if, i have anything at all. or maybe there is an application already in-stalled on my comp that can help me battle this little blighter???

if you are a samaritan and would love to help me, the poor wounded one called chris. i would love you forever. and if there was anything i could do for you (of course, keeping it above board!!!!! lol!!!) (im being serious dudes and dudettes) i will be here for you.

please please please help me obi-wan your my only hope

take care of yourselves and maybe ill hear from some-one very soon. x

I don't know logic platinum pro too well I have only been using logic since version 7 but did you look in your component folder to get rid of the rompler? The component folder is located here:

Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plugins/Component
or
Macintosh HD/Users/(your user account name)/Library/Audio/Plugins/Component

Look in the first component folder for anything with the name of the rompler in it and take it out of that folder and put it in a folder on the desktop or something. If it isn't there check the second location to be sure. If you find something there and remove it relaunch logic and see if the future loops beat rompler comes up again when logic starts up. I'm sorry this is the only thing I can think of but it sounds like it still isn't removed. I wish I knew logic platinum pro better so i could be sure what the problem is but try this, it may be the same as in logic 7. Good luck getting your software going again.

Valente

Dear sirchit,

Dude, I had a similar problem with my computer recently. I had to upgrade to Tiger to resolve it. I wish I could be of more help, but after I installed Tiger, stuff worked again. I know it's a pain to do that, because sometimes third-party stuff doesn't work with a system upgrade (like that ubiquitous Pro Tools program. Man, I think those slackers at Digidesign hold out on their updates just to make us Mac users squirm. What is it with those guys? I've permanently stopped using Pro Tools for that reason and for the fact that Pro Tools only works with Digidesign hardware. Talk about arrogant!). One thing I've decided to do when I get my next computer is only use it for my audio stuff. Other non-audio programs can have the potential to interfere. Your beat rompler could be the culprit, but I doubt it. I'm not sure about the available space on your hard drive, though.

This is interesting, too. Before I upgraded to Tiger, I called Apple's Logic Pro support line for help. After about an hour on the phone with nothing still working, the Pro tech guy actually told me, "Well...I don't know what else to tell you. I guess you're going to have to figure it out yourself." He actually said that! I mean, my problem was so bad that iTunes wasn't even working on my computer, and it's Macintosh native software!

Well, I'm probably boring you now. I hope the Tiger upgrade works if you're brave enough to try it. I wish I could help you more. I'll send a prayer of success your way.

Sincerely,
hahaworld

I beleive that 10.2.9 is the latest Jaguar update, you might try using it before using Tiger.

Alternatively restore your system from your last known working backup.
