hello everybody
iwas wondering if it's still a good solution to buy a G4 Dual 1,25ghz or is it really a better solution to wait till i can offer a g5 (dp 1,8ghz). do you think i can still go for a while with the dual G4 or we are at a moment when itt's really better to pass on the g5? thanks a lot |

a g4 dual 1.25 its ok if you short on butget but you have to think at long term.i would say buy a g5 because the g4 will lose preformance of power at long run and every future upgrades on programs like logic 7.digitalpreformer.protools.there are gonna need more power and to run properly.

If you are getting a dual the G4 is going to last a long time, because you are working with two processors. i accually set mine up to where one processor is running pro-tools and the other is doing all of the changes. It will be a few years and two or three software versions at least before you wouldn't be able to use most programs on the G4. Most problems don't come from the hardware, but from the changes in the OS. From 1983 until the coming of the G4, the internal workings of the Mac were basicly the same. The thing that made it to where you couldn't use programs was the major changes in the OS's.
