Hi, I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to electronic/techy music stuff. I've basically got a MIDI synth/keyboard and need to hook it up to my G4 ibook. I've been looking at Reason and Soundtrack, and it seems that I really need some sort of MIDI input to really be able to create music (working on a short film soundtrack). Any suggestions?? Budget is an issue
ll help will be greatly appreciated!! |

If your Controller is a USB unilt, that's allyou need. justplug it in to your iBook, and open Audio MIDI to set up the keyboard. you'll find it in the Utilities folder. |

If budget and relaibility is an issue, I highly recomend the MOTU fastlane interface.

i got a midiman midisport for fairly cheap, and you just download the drivers off the companys website. It has two ins and two outs, usb powered. Works for me and was just under $70. (i use a powerbook g4 12 inch, first gen actually)

Thanks everyone for you advice. At the moment I am looking at the Roland UM1X interface. I can't find the MOTU one in Australia for a reasonable price, but will research the midisport...
