well i got the Delta 44 and midisport 2x2 for my powermac g4. one question is that when recording there seems to be always distortion with the guitar(it does not sound like background distortion but like the guitar has a grunge pedal or something with it) and i dont have a mic preamp, but i do have my brothers amp, would getting a preamp solve this problem or is there another solution out there. This is more of a beginner question but how can you adjust the latency(through OMS or something?) Oh and in Delta logic i am having trouble hearing the midi tracks it shows that there is something playing and i should hear sound, but guess what i dont. so any possible solutions would be greatly welcome and appreciated.

HI
A little more info would be useful..... You havent given details of what synth you use for Midi sounds, or How the guitar is connected. For example , if you plug the guitar into a microphone socket, it will overdrive the preamp, as most mics produce considerably lower ouputs than guitars...... thus causing distortion. Or if you are using an extension out socket on the amp and feeding the line level inputs, you will create the same effect, although possibly with faster damage occurance.... OMS is purely for midi, and has little or no relevance to your AUDIO, except when used in conjunction with VSTis. You need to make certain the midi tracks are being sent to an appropiate midi out port and fromthere to a synth capable of being heard! Latency issues generally lie in the set up of the ASIO driver for the Aduio interface, and usually have a dedicated application that installs with the drivers.... Although i cant recall about the M-Audio, but im pretty sure this is the case. I would HIGHLY recommend that you read the manual and accompanying enevitable PDF files for guidance to where exactly to look. (the latency is based on the number of samples in a buffer, the smaller the buffer , the shorter the delay... But beware, too low and you'll start getting glitches in the record/playback of Audio.) Hoipe this points you in the right direction.... max -------------------- max woz ere
