Is there any free/cheap/good/expensive program to convert my old vinyl records to cd format?

Well, this is your lucky day.
Download the freeware application 'Coaster'. Get a 1/8' stereo mini plug to left/right RCA cable. Plug the mini plug into your sound in port (with mic icon). Plug the RCA ends into your 'Tape Out' on your amplifier. Start up coaster and select 'new recording'. Switch your amp to Phono and start playing your record. You should see levels in coaster. Let coaster know where to put your files and start 'Taping' away to AIFF files. You might want to find a nice audio editor to trim the beginnings and endings of your songs as well as 'Normalizing', or maximizing the volume. Burn the AIFFs to your CDs. |
