Right, I'm using a 1.25GHz 15 Inch Powerbook, 512MB RAM - Standard Spec Basicly. Now, I do plan to go to 1GB of RAM in the future but I think 512MB shouold be okay for the mo. Okay, here's my problem - I've got 4 tracks of audio running in PTLE, 2 of which have the Bomb Factory 1176 Compressor running on them as well as the DigiRack 4 Band EQ, I've got Reason Rewired into an Aux input which is playing just a loop from Dr. Rex (The little sample player jobbie that chops up samples and stuff) - When I try to record a 5th audio track I get about 5 seconds into the recording when Pro Tools crashes - any suggestions?

I am using the Internal drive for the Audio which I know is a bad idea - but I didn't think it would fall over with just 5 tracks of audio!!

If anyone could help I'd be most grateful...

Sam

My guess is that the bus is being choked by using the startup drive as your recording drive. You should use a firewire drive spinning at 7200RPM or better. That internal drive isn't spinning very fast, despite the fact that it is trying to run the syatem as well as read and write audio files at the same time. A drive just can't do that many things at once.
The less likely thing that might help a bit is reducing the plug-ins. Bus the dry tracks together and bring them back in on an aux input, then put the plug-ins on that bussed track. Sometimes that's not an option, but it helps when the processor is tapped out.

Many thanks for that. I thought I may have to invest in a F/W Drive - but I though I'd check...
