Hi there
I would like to ask you all for some advise. I want chop up loops with some good program thats is suitable for this. I am a logic user and Logic is a pain in that ass when trying to get loops in time or to slice them up. This is my deal , what is the best way to chop up beats (say to get a loop in time and mabey take out the snare or kick) I know phatmatik seems to do the trick but everyone is raving these days about Abelton live , what is the difference between the 2? The music i like to make is (well i wish) Autechre /Aphix Twin kinda like. Any help would be highly apriciated!!!! To keep it short, what is the difference between Live & Phatmatik. Can you lay down a keymap full of midi notes (beats) with Live as you can with Phatmatik? The thing i like about phatmatik is that you can play the sliced up beats on your keyboard is this also the case with Live? or is Live just a program to get loops in time and put a effect on it here and there. anyhow, would be great i ya could give me a bit of a explanation as i am ready to by one of them but don't want to mess up with getting the wrong one . Many thanks Ce message a été modifié par Eliot - dim. 15 févr. 2004, 04:53. |

I don't know pHATmatik so won't talk about it.
But check Propellerheads Recycle, as it's in OSX at last… for the "choping" side. Live is more a loop/audio file sequencer. If you want to "chop up" beats then Phatmatik or Intakt would be your best choices.
They are like using "Recycle" as a plug-in. QUOTE Can you lay down a keymap full of midi notes (beats) with Live as you can with Phatmatik? Live does not work like Phatmatik/Intakt/Recycle. It treats audio "elastically". Any rhythmical material (i.e. a loop as a WAV, SDII or AIFF file) is stretched in real-time to fit the tempo of your project (similar to garage band). Personally, I use them both. Phatmatik as a plug-in and Live synced to Logic via Rewire. Try downloading a demo of both http://www.ableton.com/index.php?main=live...b=demo-download http://www.bitshiftaudio.com/products/phat.../downloads.html |
