greetings.....this is my idea
i'm about to get a 15"G4Powerbook to make electronic music...sameold i know. So, mainly i will create sounds/tracks with software. I want the greatest ability to alter sounds and bass. Sounds and/or instruments will also come from live MiniDisc recordings. I'm not very interested in MIDI-live recordings. I have no experience and my creations will reflect downtempo/triphop/ambient/dub with steady distorted bass lines, and some flowing layers of sound. I am able to invest serious energy into this...the software i've thought about so far is DP4, Reason, Logic.... What should I get, what other ones should I consider? I appreciate your time loveN |

From what you've described, sounds like you'll definatly need Crystal Be sure and get all the patches available on their web site, there are some pretty cool ones!

I'd recommend Bias PEAK, for sound/sample editing and processing. It's the best 2-track editor currently available for Macintosh, and ships with a bunch of plugins that can help you create unique sounds
Along with it, I'd suggest picking up as many free and shareware VST and AU plugins as you can find (there are many links on this site) and trying them out within PEAK. I like the offerings from Smart Electronix, particularly KTGranulator. |
