I am a basic Mac user (running OS X) looking to create CDs (or MPS files if it is possible) that will play music for a set interval followed by a set interval w/ no sound.

Example: 60 seconds of music followed by 10 seconds of silence, repeating for the entire time of the CD (or MP3).

I'm hoping to find an inexpensive and easy way to do this. Is there free or v. inexpensive software that would make this possible?

Thanks for any help.

You need a audio-editing software like "Spin Doctor" included in all Roxio Toast software packages. There you can record tracks with no sound and also edit sound-recordings to a length of 60 sec.
If you ain't got Toast burning software, check out the audio-section in mac-software of www.download.com or in www.versiontracker.com for editing freeware.

with any sound editor you can add 10 sec of silence to the end of your 60sec song,
so you'll have a 70 sec song..
Burn the song with 'any' cd burning software (could be iTunes for free)
put the cd player in 'repeat song'

or, convert to mp3 with iTunes and put in cheap mp3 player to repeat forever...
