sorry about the repost...
Problem: When starting up Logic (with virtual memory, TCP/IP and appletalk OFF) I get an error message "ASIO not enough memory." I used to have an M-audio Quattro Audio Interface, but I returned it, because I figured I was getting this ASIO error because it was just a crappy product with crappy mac ASIO drivers. HOWEVER... I now have the Emagic 2|6 Audio interface and it gives me the same error message! Anyone who can help me solve this problem is a genius, since I have asked individuals who have been using Logic extensively for YEARS, and they couldn't help. Please HELP!! jennifer |

Hi Jennifer,
the error message you received is caused by a conflict with the apple soundmanager. Both the soundmanger and the ASIO driver try to use the emi at the same time. To solve this problem you should: 1. upgrade Logic to 4.7.3 (better 4.8.1) 2. use the emi driverswitch and select "ASIO" (and follow the instructions: disconnect the emi etc...) Now Logic should open without the error message. For best results i recommend to download the emi driver 2.0 (which is totally new) from the emagic website. With this driver you can use apple´s control strip to set the audio settings of the emi. Be shure that you have not chosen the emi in the control strip - Otherwise the same error-message would appear. Furthermore you can now use emagics EASI driver with Logic which is AFAIK better than the ASIO one. (Remember not to use them at the same time ;-) Hope this solves your problem. Best wishes leon P.S.: Sorry for any miss-spelling etc. - i´m not a native speaker. |

HI Leon and Thank you,
I updated Logic from 4.7.1 to 4.8, downloaded the new EMI driver 2.0, and made sure that EMI was not selected in the control strip... BUT YET I GET THE SAME ERROR MESSAGE! if I have ASIO selected, I get "ASIO: not enough memory" if I have EASI selected, I get "EASI: not enough memory" I also tried turning off sound manager extensions/control panels in the Extensions manager. The Error i got when starting Logic was "EASI: hardware error" I don't know what to try next...PLEASE HELP! -jennifer |

Sorry, i neither have logic, nor the emi, but anyway, try this:
- in the Sound control panel, make sure the emi 2/6 is NOT selected (normally, it should be the "classic" soundmanger) - ask a friend using the same audio interface to send you a fresh asio driver - lower the memory used by Logic (maybe the system needs some RAM to initialize the ASIO driver) - toggle the options in the audio configuration of Logic Hope this helps a bit. Bye. |

Everyone,
I have the new white ibook g3 with 512 mb of ram (for only audio apps use. basically just Logic) running os 9.2. Yukelele, I have tried all your suggestions...still the error message occurs. I always make sure the emi is NOT selected in the sound manager (Does it matter if I choose "none?" Or does the built-in setting need to be selected?). I have tried upping and downing the memory allocation for Logic, no luck. I just downloaded the newest emi asio driver from the website, and also the newest Logic update... I have toggled Logic's audio option on and off, probably every single one of them at some point, trying to get this error to go away! : ( FYI, also when I get this error, None of my audio tracks are enabled in the mixer. So I can't use them. (This is probably an obvious point, but just FYI.) Please keep the help coming/thanks all, Jennifer |

Try assigning more memory to Logic (100-200MB).
Find the Logic Application on your hard drive. click on it once. Go to "File" menu Choose Get Info>Memory. Assign 100000k minimum size 200000k Preferred size. Let me know if this makes a difference. Matt |

this will sound weird, but i use the same config as you, and the only way around this is to disenable the sound manager extension!
otherwise, make sure that the only asio driver in logics' asio drivers folder is the emi2/6'. DO select it in the sound control panel! -------------------- one for all and all for one...

Just wondering: is it necessary to use the asio extension for the emi audiointerface ??? audiowerk 8 for example is running "natively" on logic, that means no asio installing needed... so my next step would be: transfer all the asio drivers from your logic asio folder to a neutral folder, so that the asiofolder (is it at the "original installed" place?) is empty, then try to start up logic again. look for the option "using usb-audio" or so and select it. go to audiohardware and look for the emi panel... don't know if that helps, but it's worth a try

selenit,
I tried getting Logic to detect the emi 2|6 natively (i made sure the "using usb audio device" check box is checked, and the easi/asio drivers are not in the logic folder) and it didn't detect anything... come on...SOMEBODY's gotta be able to fix this! jennifer |
