I have 2 Motu Midi Timepiece AVs both are serial connections, has anyone used the MTPAV with a serial to USB converter?
I know the best thing to do is to buy a USB MTPAV and use it that way. I have a G4 FW800 dual 1.42 Ghz, with Cubase SX3. Also a Biege G3 with G4 processor upgrade using Cubase VST32. Does anyone know how to connect the two with VST link from Cubase SX3? Can I use the G4 and Beige G3 together with both Cubase SX3 and Cubase VST32 together? Thanks for any help! Please only one question per thread, it helps keeping things tidy
i think you misplaced, it's a USB to serial you're talking about. These, I don't know, but I know stealth Geethree and G4 and G5 equivalents do work well usually with serial interfaces. -------------------- Our Classifeds • Nos petites annonces • Terms Of Service / Conditions d'Utilisation • Forum Rules / Règles des Forums • MacMusic.Org & SETI@Home

The odds of someone having done this prior to your attempt is mind boggling! It's not impossible... However, if this was the Bet Forum I would not bet on it. But, you might be one of those really 'Lucky People'. I am imagining your set-up... Must be awesome... Lot of noise and clever tech stuff... I only have a G5... Does everything... Most loudest unwanted noise I get is from a LaCie External. I know you are some sort of ElecTechWizzard but do you have time to create music?

Several years ago, when I first got my G4, I tried to do this with a serial MIDI Express. I tried all manner of USB-to-serial converters, and I also tried putting in a Keyspan PCI serial board. The short answer: it won't work, unless someone is willing to write a new driver for it. It's more trouble than it's worth. Find a PC user to sell the serial MTP to, and get a USB one.

It works, but with the modem port to serial adapters I've pointed to. Also, it's "tight", not like USB…
We have quite a few members using this professionnally, in case… -------------------- Our Classifeds • Nos petites annonces • Terms Of Service / Conditions d'Utilisation • Forum Rules / Règles des Forums • MacMusic.Org & SETI@Home
