Hello everyone. I'm brand new to the site, and to music on the mac. I've been on the mac for graphic design for 10 years. I've got an iBook 700 mhz, maxed out memory, 20 gb HD and 60 gb ext drive.

I would like to get an EASY TO USE program for printing out sheet music (SATB and piano) ... that i can use with just my iBook as the input, and, ALSO with a synthesizer keyboard as the input.

I appreciate anyone's advice. I'm so tired of my sloppy handwriting, and so is the choir, LOL.

THANKS!

Thera are at least three programs that comes to mind.

Listed in order of increasing pricetags and difficulty to use.

Encore 4.1 - 4.5 from http://www.gvox.com/
( this is an outstanding easy to use notation software )
( I have 4.1 myself - not quite compatible with OS X though)
( I like this one a lot - but Gvox doesnt seem to uograde it frequently )

Sibelius 2.0 - 2.1? from http://www.sibelius.com/
( this seem really slick - once you get the hang of it )

Coda:s Finale 2003 from http://www.finalemusic.com/
( this is an asshole to learn - but - there aint NOTHING you cant do with it )
( including cooking your breakfast - page layout rivals Indesign & Pagemaker

Cheers: Dixiechicken

Emagic's Logic series is another one to consider... very complex but it does it all. wink.gif

you will need a midi interface at least and if you want to record the audio of the synth then you will need an audio/midi interface which there are several now on the market with both.

PS... welcome to mac audio... I too am a graphic designer on a mac and got into music on the mac about 3 years ago cool.gif
