just updated to OS X and logic 5.5 , but i am having weird problems...

for one, I can only have 2 outputs for my 828.... there is no ASIO, its only Core audio, so i cant see the motu 828 driver.

Also, when playing my supernova 2 keyboard, it plays fine through the motu 828, but when I play an audio instrument like esx24, it comes out of the front tiny speaker of my 867 MDD g4! Weird...maybe someone can help me...

There is no ASIO in OS X it has been replaced by Core Audio.
Have you installed the Core Audio driver for your MOTU 828?
It is currently only a beta driver, download it from the mOTU website.

In Logic you need to select the MOTU 828 core audio driver in your "Audio Hardware and Drivers" window.

In the Audio layer of the environment make sure that all your audio objects are assigned to Core Audio (CoAu next to Dev).

Since 15 November 2002 there has been the 1.0 version of the OS X driver for the MOTU 828 sitting in the briar patch over on VersionTracker. I must have posted this about, what-- Five times now?

ummm, read thereviews from the link you have provided....

MOTU sucks. These fools have got to get with the program and release those damn PCI 324 drivers. DP will be out later this year? That's 6 weeks folks. This company is hopeless. Bottom line: UNREAL

what a scam -- this is the same beta driver as before, only repackaged with a fancy 1.0 on it instead of a "beta". it still has no optical i/o and no console. LAME.

anyone know if MOTU will be developing a PCI-324 driver for X? DP and my 2408 are the only apps keeping me in 9.2.

Damn, it took you long enough MOTU to get these out, however I understand that OSX's audio support has been sketchy. I must say though, near flawless implementation, I just wish you would include the console, I need to be able to set the thru's on my 828. Keep the updates coming :-)

If you go to the MOTU website (which seems the logical place to download software updates for their own products) you will see that this product is a Public Beta.

Read the MOTU website.
Installs a pre-release public beta of the MOTU 828 Driver. Requires OSX version 10.1.5 or higher. Please read the installer's ReadMe file for current limitations of this driver.

The software on the versiontracker website is exactly the same. Why don't you download both and check for yourself. I imagine version tracker has failed to label the item correctly as a beta version and also has the wrong creation date.

If I want to get the latest version of some software for emagic products guess where I go. It's not version tracker.

So no matter how many times you have posted it Levon River, it is still only a Beta version.

I don't actually own any MOTU products so I can't say I keep up to date with the latest versions of their drivers. I was just pointing E rouge to the logical place to look and noticed they were BETA.

E rouge,

What version of OS X are you using? Are you installing the MOTU 828 "beta" driver from within OS X and not OS 9. I would think that the driver should be automatically installed in the correct location so don't change its default location.

If installed correctly you should see it in the "Audio Hardware and Drivers" window of logic in the pull down menu under Core Audio. What options can you see in this menu now?

Are the Audio Input objects in your track mixer (or audio layer of your environment) assigned to output 1-2?

Ummmm, I read them. But thanks for the memories.

WTF does wanker whining about no PCI card drivers for the 2408 have to do with a firewire driver for the 828? It was irrelevant when it was posted on VersionTracker, and it's irrelevant now.

As for the 1.0.0 vs. 1.0b1 controversy, I explain things calmly to formatj below. You might want to follow the bouncing ball...

Or not. It might be a head. smile.gif
