I did get the Mackie Onyx 1220. I love the mixer! But the firewire option and Tracktion???

I'm running OS X 10.3.9 on my Mac G4 and there must be a setup option or something in the software that I'm missing?

I can "see" the Onyx FW in both my System Profiler and I've set it up in my "Audi Midi Setup". (Although I must restart my Mac with the FW connection and mixer powered on).

I've read through the User Guides, (all 76+ pages), but I can't get a recorded signal during record.

All I've got connected is 2 Mics and a guitar in the mixer. Firewire connection is good. Live sound is good thru the mixer.

Is anyone out there familiar with Traction? Help me please

I have an Onyx 1220 & use Ableton Live. I don't remember how Tracktion's setup is but I'll clue you in on a couple of obstacles that I had. Typically to preserve CPU the sequencer/recorder software will have the incoming channels turned off. I had to go thru Ableton's preferences/audio setup & specify which incoming channels I wanted to be recognized. Then I had to specify thru my mixer pulldown menu what incoming mixer channels (that I had specified previously in preferences) I wanted available to record on each track. Does this help? Let me know if I need to be more specific.

Thank you for your reply!

I read the Mackie User guides again, and their forum help on "recording level". I discovered that in order to see the recorded track wave in Tracktion, you must turn the mixer Channel GAIN up to nearly the 3 o'clock position. I hadn't taken the time to connect the headphones to monitor yet,... nor had I properly followed the levels setup proceedure. I'd skipped a step.

The Channel Gain level on the mixer seems awfully high, but that's what it took (along with the other setup steps). And now I have a visual recorded signal wave in Tracktion! Yeah!

I'm still playing with the software capabilties. Computer recording is all very new,and Tracktion doesn't seem that user friendly to me. There's no menu bar! But if I keep going back to the User Guide, and clicking around (LOL), it starts making sense.
