i'm new to computer music, but i've done electronic music for quite some time now. i love the things i can do on computer, but i really miss 3 machines i used to have. these include the roland xp60, the yamaha rm1x, and the E-mu xl7. i know these were all romplers or whatever, but why is it so hard to find something comparable on computer. i have a 1.07 GHz iBook G4 which i know is SUBSTANTIALLY more powerful than any of those synth/sequencers i had. none of them needed multiple GB of memory, but they were great machines with great sounds. am i looking past some stuff with software or does this sort of thing not exist?

i meant to ask if ravity by luxonox or hypersonic by steinberg are worth buying? they seem to be the closest i've seen to the PCM style workstations. but how well do they perform, and how good do they sound compared to something like an older emu synth?

I think the E-mu sounds are available in sample form, but for the (censored) card they do now which are only for windows PCs… unsure.gif
