Hey there!
I'm looking for a competent audio-editor. I will mainly be using it to create samples for use with Kontakt 1.5. Peak is pretty expensive, but I'm willing to shell out the cash if I know I get the best piece of software. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks, Schack |

My philosophy here would first be to get the cheapest (free) thing available, and see if/how it does NOT fit your needs.
Recently, for the usages you mention, I downloaded SPARK ME 2.8.1 from right here in the MacMusic Downloads section. It was rated 3 of 5 points, and I did not want to shell out big bucks. I'm actually pretty satisfied with it so far. I'm not doing work in this area that requires lots of bells and whistles. From there, you'll at least have an idea of what features you can't live without if you must buy something. Good Luck! |

Also, another cool free program (open source) is Audacity. It can do multiple track stuff, and enveloping, and all sorts of other neat stuff, plus with the (also free) VST enabler, it supports VST plug-ins.
