I heard BIAS PEAK is good on Mac OS X. Want to know what other members use to record audio from outside their Mac. Am deciding which one to download. I want something that is stable and not buggy. Has the ability to record digital audio in stereo and mono. Thanks for your feedback.

You might give a try to Audacity. It's pretty good and free.

We have used Bias Studio LE (Peak LE, DeckLE and Toast Lite) along with Soundsoap to import my friend's guitars. We used his mixer and a M-Audio Quattro. The biggest drawback is the usb limitations of the Quattro. We are now eyeing the M-Audio firewire devices. The 410 looks cool.

I am using the FW410 and Ableton's Live,

I also have a copy of Garageband which works
surprising well and supports Audio Units.

I use Metro 6.2 and have never looked back. Can record in mono or stereo. Can use VST, and AU plugs. Can render internally, instantly.

Try DSP-Quattro. Its a great little program and you can pick it up cheap... for about 120$ I think.

I just downloaded Audacity and worked with it a bit and it's great. Simple to use and has all one needs for good multitrack editing and recording. It may not have some of the fancy features that bigger programs do, but for sound design and such it has more than enough. This really spits in the face of the likes of Peak, Audiodesk, etc. Love it!

Just for kicks...
I use Amadeus...
it is a fantastic program setup by a man at this web address:

http://www.hairersoft.com/

It has some fantastic algorythms for translating MP4 files from iTunes and analyzation schemes and other things that really make this program shine...
I used to use Peak and found this for i think about 29.00 dollars...

I know it's more expensive than free...
But the support is great and the program really shines...
