I have recently purchased the Logic Big Box. I am using it with an Evolution MIDI USB keyboard to control audio instruments. While I have massively enjoyed using Logic for composing and am delving into the delights of virtual instruments, I am continuously frustrated by the lack of stabilitity of the program under OS9.2

Can anyone recommend a method for improving stability of the program (mainly a problem with loading)? I have a pretty souped up Ti powerbook and new iMac so processing power/hard disk space isnt a problem.

Also, the program has just recently spontaneously decided not to receive midi in from the USB keyboard. I didnt change a setting so I am not clear why. I am considering playing with Preference files or re-installing the whole thing.

Also, does anyone know when the OSX version will appear and will it be a free upgrade?

Many thanks

Mmm.. just one or two ideas

First off -did 9.2 come from a 9.2 installation disk or is it a web upgrade from an earlier version. I've always found system disks 'untouched' perfrom most reliably, perhaps because this is what developers work from? (speculation smile.gif ) Logic is usually pretty solid on it's own but with other plugs/instruments and soundcard drivers chances of noncompatibilty multiply! Just like a hotrod pc only not quite so bad laugh.gif laugh.gif

Also, some driver problems can corrupt the logic preferences file I have found. Try deleting it and relaunch. If you use key commands, always keep your prefs backed up (only say that after spending a day setting them all up again myself. blink.gif )

Lastly if you're a logic fan, emagic's own interfaces have a long history of trouble free use. Plug and go, literally. cool.gif £80-90 quid for an mt4 is not alot compared to lost studio hours having a big bust up with OMS, or even Freemidi -they don't even respect you in the morning when for some unknown reason a change of wind prompts them to come back to you laugh.gif
