hi everyone- i would like to use a drum pattern in ultrabeat to trigger a synth track. i only want the synth track to create sound at the same time as the drum pattern. how should i go about this? what effects do i need to put on what tracks? are there multiple ways to achieve the same effect? thanks in advance to all the producers out there...

oh. that's much much easier than i was thinking of. i try to get too complicated.... what i was tryin to go for is i had heard something about sidechains and compression, and triggering the signal from one to the other, and using busses, but frankly that all really confuses me. i'll give it a try and let ya know...

<<<<UPDATE>>>> so the effect i was trying to achieve i figured it out.. 1.create an ultrabeat track with a simple kick drum pattern 2. create a midi track with choir or synth, etc; put compression as an effect on track 2A. record part. playing notes as for a song/loop 3. send both tracks to a bus, make sure you turn volume on sends up so you can hear it 4. set output on both tracks to none 5. on bus track, set gate as effect; then put setting to "isolate kick drum" 6. synth track will play pattern of kick drum, muting when kick is not making noise
enjoy!
