I bought Zero-G's Sounds of Polynesia, and want to convert the entire sound library to EXS 24 format so that I never have to launch that @#$%! Native instruments Intakt sample player once. (No program that i paid for will order me to do something "to keep using it beyond 14 days." No, thanks >>kick<<)

So how do i convert this whole library to EXS? Logic pro has no direct "Intakt Convert' function and my CDXtract 4 also failed to do a successful conversion. Should I wait for (the long-promised) CDXtract 5 update, or maybe buy Chickensys Translator now?... or do a 2-step batch conversion by going through a mainstream format like Akai or Gigasampler via some shareware utility?

Register the plug-in and you can use it fine beyond the 14days!
NI's interface can work very well with these protected libraries, that's why you may have a problem finding a conversion utility!

I have a real problem with any program ordering me around. As far as I'm concerned - that is NOT going to pass.

It's okay, I found a solution. (If you can think of a better way, feel free to suggest it.) I played through the entire S.O.P. library yesterday (clicking through all 5 warning Intakt messages... boy do I hate that program!) and found 4 samples that i want in my music. So i don't really need a batch conversion after all, I'll just play those 4 samples and "freeze' the track to audio in Logic Audio, then I'll have them in AiFF format already. Case closed.

My bigger problem is that I just learned that the Colossus that I bought from a producer in New York also runs on Intakt. (Maybe that's why he sold it so fast :-)) I probably *will* need batch conversion for that thing when it arrives.

Native Instruments is a very cool company who makes really, really cool stuff. All they want to do is know who is using their software. Overprotective? Probably...but that overprotection lends itself to some SUPERIOR software. Try out the Kontact player versions versus the workaround samples you just made & you may be surprised. Then again I may just be talking out of my hat. I have a couple of NI apps & my experience with them is positive (if imperfect).

Mortalengines,

I'm not against registering at a web site. i just did it yesterday at Sony.com for five different video devices. What I'm against is being forced in a crude, crass manner to do it. There is a whole world of difference between an elegant 'please visit us to register and download a free soundfile with our compliments' or "Achtungg! Left turn, 1-2-1-2, march to register at our site, or vee vill shoot your program like a dog in 2 weeks, jawohl?"

I don't want to sound too ironic, but if a company is this inept in communicating with me, how good can its product be at the same task ? laugh.gif
