I had the same problem until a helpful soul walked me through setting up the proper environment. It's a bit of a process but you only have to do it once and save it as a template. He told me and now I tell you:
Open up Logic. Create a new song. Click on Audio>Audio Mixer and select Audio Object 1. To the left of the mixer in the Region Parameter box at the bottom, click on Channel and select Rewire>RW:Mix L above the list of channels and below the list of busses. Pan the track to hard left. Select Audio Object 2 and repeat the procedure, selecting RW: Mix R and panning the track hard right. Rename the tracks ReWire L and ReWire R. Then select Windows>Environment. In the local menu in the upper left hand corner, select Options>Layer>Insert. Select the Text tool from the toolbox, the second from the right and name the unnamed layer “Reason Bus A”. In the local menu, select New>Internal>Rewire. In the bottom dialog box on the left, make sure that the device selected is Reason and the Bus is 6. Select the Channel as 1 and rename the object Reason A1. Create sixteen of these Rewire objects, renaming them as you go along and making sure that the Device selected for each is Reason and the Bus 6 and selecting the corresponding channel to the object, (Reason A2 as Channel 2, Reason A3 as Channel 3, etc.) When you’re done, select all the Rewire objects you’ve created and copy them. From the local menu, select Options>Layer>insert and create a new layer. Paste the Rewire objects you have copied. Rename the layer “Reason Bus B” and each object Reason B1, Reason B2, etc. Make sure that the device for each object is Reason and that the channel number corresponds to the object name. This time set each of the sixteen objects to Bus 7. Repeat this procedure two more times, creating two more layers of sixteen objects each, renaming the layers “Reason Bus C” and “Reason Bus D”, renaming the corresponding objects accordingly and setting their Device and Channel correctly. For Bus C group, set the bus to 8 and for D to 9. This should properly set up your Logic environment for use with a maximum of 64 tracks in Reason. Save the file.
To create music with Reason rewired, launch Logic, then Reason. Call up the Logic file with the Reason environment you have created. Open up the Arrange window in Logic. The first two audio tracks should be RW:Mix L and RW:Mix R. Click and hold on the next available audio track. Select Reason Bus A>Reason A1. Notice that the Region Parameter box on the left has changed to reflect a rewired instrument. The type should say Rewire, the Device should say Reason and the Bus should say 6. In Reason, create the devices you want to be working with. Back in Logic, click and hold on the Channel menu at the bottom of the Region Parameter box; it should have all the Reason devices you have created. Select one and this will be your Rewired track in your new song. Repeat the process. Rock on.
