Hi there everyone, this is my first post on this site, have read all the others and been impressed with everyones responses. Hope you can help
P.S Please mind the long post, and if anything sounds a bit silly, its because im not particularly good with computers. My setup: Dual 1 gig G4 MDD, 1.25 gig ram, Logic 4.7 Platinum, OS9.22, Edirol DA 2496, 120 HD The problem: When I record audio into the computer via my Edirol, I can hear what im playing no problem with little problems with latency etc. However when it comes to playing back the recorded piece I dont get any sound what so ever, in fact not even the mixer shows any sign of activity. Wierdly however, when I open up the audio window, I can audition the audio no problems, and there's activity on the mixer! I have set all audio outputs on logics mixer to 1 and 2 (Default), which are then taken from the edirol into my external mixer. All the audio preferences seem to be ok. Has anyone experienced something similar? if so how did you fix it? Please (without meaning to sound rude) explain as simply as possible as im a dufus. Thanks in advance |

Sorry I'm not a logic user so I can't really say much, but I heard that logic can be complicated with the environment setup. Is there any config you could do there to make sure each channel is routed to the master? I'm sorry if I don't make sense.. I never used it before.

It's normally something real stupid - like you have a track solo'd or something.
Try opening a new song and importing one of your audio files - does this still give you the same problem? -------------------- Dual 2GHz PowerPC G5 / 2 x 19" Formac Monitors / Hammerfall Digi 9652 / Mackie d8b / 2.5 gig RAM

ok auditioning always uses 1 & 2 but this can be changed, check which audio engine and which channels your playback audio is on..you can have audio objects on midi, instrument etc channels and they should be on audio channels obviously..make sure your audio channels are audio tracks and not input, instrument or any other variation, double click on the track name to go to the audio mixer environment and see where your faders are set to, make sure you're not muted or solo'ed, dont forget the master channel at the far right...umm...good luck

"My kingdom" for a solution to this problem. I "upgraded" my system- G4 "digital audio" 133 mhz bus with a Sonnet 1.4 gig processor, and Pro Tools 24 mix Plus with Logic 4.8.1. I have the same problem, which started with opening sessions from my old system with previous versions of Logic. Here's what HASN'T worked:
1) Zapped PRAM 2) Rebuilt Desktop 3) Trashed logic preferences. 4) Rebuilt audio environment with new objects (confirmed object as audio track, assigned outputs, etc.) 5) Tried different versions of DAE and DigiInit (5.0, 5.1) 6) Ran through extension manager trying to find any extension conflicts, starting with base os and adding from there. 7) Reinstalled Logic Platinum 8) Tried removing plugins folder from Dae, and Logic app. folder. 9) Swapped ram sticks around (1.5 gig) 10) Reseated processor card. 11) Searched for answers on the internet (that's why I'm here) 12) Prayed 13) etc., etc., etc. It is the most Bizarre problem. It does not matter whether the audio driver is DAE, Direct I/O, or Mac A/V. It still does the same thing... You can audition audio through the interface (all channels or Mac AV) through the sample/audio editor, but when the object is placed in the audio track, no meter registers and no audio plays back. Interesting note: I have successfully played back audio from an audio instrument (EXS24), and routed it out of my interface back into itself (muting the return, of course). It HAS played back the audio in the track, but as soon as the session is closed, it won't ever play back in the track again. I have tried reassigning the audio path for disk recording, putting "imported" samples into that folder, with absolutely no luck. Pro Tools (5.1.3) is running ROCK SOLID with 64 audio tracks simultaneously, RTAS and TDM plugins. DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHAT THIS PROBLEM IS???????!!!! Thanks for any help... |
