440 Forums _ Other Controllers, Interfaces, DSP Cards _ Trying USB3 and DeckII 3.0

I have an older ibook -- pre firewire -- so USB is the only option for audio. Just bought an aardvark usb3 which is pretty cool but i get a delay echo in record mode, and there are some weird inconsistensies with things sometimes working. Not really useable out of the box. I'm running OS9.1. Any suggestions for fixes or alternatives. I paid $225 for the usb3 (which supposedly I can return if it doesn't work) and am just trying out the demo of deckII (will cost me $149 since I own older version)so both could be changed. Don't really want to go much beyond this price range.
Thanks.
Barry

That echo is latency. Most systems monitor the input BEFORE it is processed.
The signal that is sitting at the input of your audio interface, will always be behind timewise from audio sitting on your hard drive.

Latency is the amount of time it takes for the signal to pass through the electronics, and stored on your hard disk.

I use a multi-bus mixer, so I can hear what I'm recording at the input, while listening to the output of previous tracks. You are hearing

I wasn't aware that Aarvark made any Mac compatible products, it appears that USB3 is their first. Check their site for updates.

I know that DeckII wants to see OMS, do you have the latest and greatest?
2.3.8. It can be found at opcode.com

Not sure I explained the problem clearly. The echo happens when you put a track into rec mode but before you start recording. So I don't think it's even going to the harddrive. The Aardvark info says that the OMS part only deals with the MIDI piece. And,I'd been using Deck II 2.6.1 for years on my 8500 with no similar problem. So... does any of this suggest we try something else?
Thanks.
