Well i am looking for an audio card for my mac and i dont know exactly to get. I want it to be fairly inexpensive(uner 250$) and have some good midi and audio i/o's(preferibly TSR jacks so i could put a guitar directly into it). I dont know what to get though. also another question on my mind if i had an audio card with OSX drivers would there be any problems working with an audio application in OS9?(i have been basicly looking at the audiophile 2496 or USB Quattro from midiman but if anyone else knows of any other i/o setups i would appreciate the input)

Hey, well i just picked up an audiophile card yesterday because it seemed to come so highly reccomended. I havent had a chance to record anything other than the outs of a discman, but im hoping the results will be good. One thing, make sure u check which software bundle that the card comes with if u get this one. Some are cakewalk metro and some are logic delta. So far im not incredibly happy with metro. . . . but oh well. Need to buy some new software. If you arent going to be using the s/pdif ins or outs on the card and dont need a ton of tracks and dont have any other software, protools free should work quite well.

thnaks for the input, i bought the delta 44 and a midisport 2x2 and so far they work perfectly, and although logic delta is somewhat limited it is verry good considering it came free with it. I am now thinking of getting Reason 2.0 because i have played with the demo and i think it is great, i could do all the effects and synths in reason and plug it into logic and mix it with my audio recordings. so far it is working out great, but i am still waiting to see for OSX sequencers and other programs, thogh reason is osx compatible.

Great! ya i would have gone for the delta 44 but im ona tight budget right now. Well glad thats workin out for ya. hey does the delta 44 have spdif ins? oh and also, i would really like to hear what u think of the logic delta program, because i should be getting it from midiman soon in the mail, hope its better than cakewalk metro. . .

well the card does not have any spdif ins or outs just analong audio 1/4' in an outs. Personaly i am fine with the logic delta prgram (although it doesnt allow manny plug ins for each track, and it does not come with that many either, reverb, chorus, flanger, gainer, and some others). but for a decent starter midi and audio sequencer it is fairly good, i have no problems with it. But there is one thing with the card it does not allow you to hear in sterio using only one out, thogh it is no real problem if you have monitors, and i dont want to spend alot on a pair of monitors to get this so i dont know what to do to get sterio (maybe get a y addaptor and plug it into my headphones?!?!?)
