Écrit par : fgrande ven. 14 juil. 2006, 23:02

I have a dual 1.8 G5 and an Edirol FA-66. and the processor is making noise (whine) in my speakers while monitoring. It doesnt end up on the recording so its just really an annoyance. Does anyone else have this problem? How do i get rid of it?
Thanks for your help.

You should try to install the CHUD tools which are part of the developpers tools for OS X, http://nav.440network.com/out.php?mmsc=forums&url=http://developer.apple.com/tools/download/

Once installed you have a new Processor prefpanel, where you can disable "nap", which is an energy saving option. Try to do so. It may work…

I´m having the same "whine" so I followed your suggestion.
The prefpane gets installed but there´s no "nap" option to disable.
Any clue?

just a guess, but your sig says "MBP" the NAP setting may be specific to PPC MPU's, not Intel MPU's.

developer.apple.com may have more specific info.
